Inigo Errejon, a member of the far-left Sumar party and the party’s spokesperson, announced his resignation from politics without apologizing and mentioned "mistakes" in his resignation statement.

The resignation was triggered by a social media post made by well-known feminist journalist and writer Cristina Fallaras earlier this week. Fallaras revealed that a woman accused a politician of violence and described him as a "real psychopath." The woman who claimed to have experienced violence turned out to be actress and television presenter Elisa Mouliaa (35). Elisa Mouliaa announced on Twitter that she had filed a police complaint against Errejon (40) for sexual assault. According to the complaint seen by AFP, the alleged sexual assault took place in 2021.

Political theory expert Inigo Errejon, who was accused of sexual violence, founded the party Mas Madrid in 2019. Mas Madrid merged with the far-left party Sumar led by Labor Minister Yolanda Diaz last year. Both Mas Madrid and Sumar have initiated investigations into the scandal.
